Journal:
Volunteered 2 hours at the Leket farm in Rishon Letziyon - helped harvest sweet potatoes.
Kindness of strangers is everywhere. We entered the train station above the platform
where the train would arrive. After David and I bought our tickets from the electronic kiosk, we needed to descend a long staircase with no elevator. The only escalator in sight came up with no counterpart going down. A very kind woman approached and asked us in English if we needed help carrying our luggage down the stairs. She picked up one of my bags and went with me down the stairs to the platform. When we got to the bottom, she went back up the stairs and presumably on her way to whereever she was originally headed. She was not going on the train at all, but took time out of her day to help us. Wow!
Rode express train to Jerusalem.
Checked into Brown Jerusalem Hotel.
Took a taxi into the Old City and walked around. Found David's favorite shwarma fast food restaurant.
Met up with David's son Benji who had just arrived in Israel from Toronto.
Went to the Kotel - boys on the left - girls on the right, of course. Lots of orthodox women, but I finally was able to spend a few moments and touch the wall.
Took a picture to highlight a pair of pigeons - one black and one white - nestled in one of the small ledges above the women's side of the Kotel.
