Journal:
There were four riding groups this day - Chalutzim, who rode the entire way to Mashabei Sadeh, including a challenging detour or two; Tzofim, who rode the entire way to Mashabei Sadeh; those who rode to Kibbutz Urim for lunch (approx. 39 mi) and then boarded a bus to the Nova Festival Memorial; Tzofim, those who rode to a shorter distance (20+ mi) and then went to Kibbutz Be'eri, the "Burned Cars" exhibit and the Nova Festival Memorial. I rode on the 39-mile route.
Very busy roads - lots of traffic and traffic lights. The pavement was often a bit dented because of all of the tanks that used this road to get to the Gaza envelope on October 6th.
After lunch I boarded a bus for a short ride to the Nova Festival Memorial to bear witness of Hamas attacks and murders on October 7th.
Devastatingly impactful forest of pictures of the murdered and their stories. Lots of story boards detailing the events of October 6th and the bravery of those who tried to defend the Nova Festival staff and attendees.
Back on the bus to complete the trip to the Mashabei Sadeh kibbutz "hotel" - lots of little buildings with hotel-like rooms.
After dinner there was a gathering of those who wished to talk about and listen to those who wished to reflect on what they
saw.
